Catherine Chadwick’s Resilient Self Discovery

Catherine Chadwick’s Resilient Self Discovery

From growing up on a farm to becoming a nurse, an actor, and now a teacher, Catherine’s journey is a testament to the power of embracing change and following your passions.

Catherine’s upbringing on a farm provided her with a deep connection to nature and a sense of wonder. Spending time outdoors and witnessing the cycles of the seasons instilled in her a love for the natural world. She recalls, “Being out there with mother nature…watching things grow and learning how many basic things work was a huge benefit for me.” This early exposure to the wonders of nature laid the foundation for Catherine’s later pursuits.

However, Catherine’s home life was not as pleasant, and she found solace in spending time outside. She explains, “The household was not pleasant to be in…so I spent so much time outside.” Despite the challenges she faced, Catherine’s love for nature and her ability to create her own world in the outdoors provided her with a sense of joy and possibility.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Growing up on a farm allowed Catherine to develop a deep connection with nature and learn about the cycles of life.
  2. Education was Catherine’s ticket out of the farm, and she pursued a nursing career, eventually becoming a head nurse at a young age.
  3. A back injury led Catherine to explore the body-mind-spirit connection and pursue a career in acting and modeling.
  4. Catherine’s interest in holistic health and wellness led her to develop the concept of the “sunshine quotient,” which involves breath work and visualization to raise one’s vibration.
  5. Taking intentional baby steps towards personal growth can lead to significant transformations and fulfillment.

The Power of Education and Following Your Dreams

While nobody in Catherine’s family encouraged her to pursue higher education, she knew deep down that she wanted to go to college. Inspired by her grandmother, who had become a nurse and supported herself after being widowed, Catherine set her sights on a nursing career. She recalls, “I went to the library…I’m good in math and science. I can do this.” Catherine’s determination led her to Alfred University, the top nursing school in New York state at the time.

After completing her education, Catherine quickly rose through the ranks in her nursing career. By the age of 23, she became the head nurse of a small intensive care unit. However, her physical health began to suffer, and she found herself in a back brace due to a crumbling lumbar back. This setback forced Catherine to reevaluate her approach to life and her own well-being.

The Journey of Self-Discovery and Transformation

During her recovery from back surgery, Catherine delved into the world of personal development and self-discovery. She started listening to Wayne Dyer and Eckhart Tolle, learning about the mind-body connection and the power of the human spirit. This newfound knowledge sparked a deep curiosity within her and set her on a path of continuous learning.

Catherine’s journey took her from nursing to acting and modeling. She embraced the world of entertainment and found joy in expressing herself creatively. She explains, “I started working with quorum as a nurse, iv therapist with people in their homes…I think the more people understand how they operate, the better off they are.” Catherine’s diverse experiences allowed her to explore different aspects of herself and discover new passions along the way.

The Sunshine Quotient: Embracing Light and Breath

One of Catherine’s most significant contributions is her concept of the “Sunshine Quotient.” Inspired by her own radiant energy, Catherine teaches others how to tap into their inner light and raise their vibration. She explains, “The Sunshine Quotient refers to lighting gradients in photography and radiology…we are light beings, emitting light and energy constantly.”

Central to the Sunshine Quotient is the practice of breathwork. Catherine emphasizes the importance of deep, slow breaths through the nose, visualizing oneself glowing from the inside out. She says, “When you feel like you’re glowing from the inside out, it’s a little hard to be cranky.” This simple yet powerful practice not only raises one’s vibration but also activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and overall well-being.

She encourages others to slow down, evaluate their desires, and take small steps towards their goals. She advises, “Create a relationship with your own curious observer…evaluate what thoughts and actions brought you to where you are now.”

By living intentionally and embracing self-discovery, Catherine believes that anyone can create a fulfilling and purposeful life. She concludes, “Life then becomes an adventure…baby steps will take you all the way to the top of Mount Everest.”
